Champions Riverside Resort is located along the Black River, which is known as a clean, natural river. Its banks support an abundance of native plants and trees such as Junegrass, little bluestem, western sunflower, sky-blue aster, prairie parsley, prairie larkspur, oaks, red cedar, and smooth sumac. The area is also great for birdwatchers with such species as yellow-billed cuckoo, barred owl, red-headed woodpecker, willow flycatcher, alder flycatcher, sedge wren, veery, American redstart, ovenbird, mourning warbler, and clay-colored sparrow being observed along the river.
